San Miguel Academy of Newburgh is pleased to announce that they will be recognized by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen at their 27th annual gala on February 1, 2025 at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls, NY.
This highest award, given each year in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen, recognizes San Miguel Academy for its “continuing legacy of mentoring youth in the Hudson Valley and being a leader in urban education.” Developing career-ready skills for the 21st-century marketplace is at the core of San Miguel Academy’s program, which includes STEMPilot, a cross-curricular aviation STEM program. Two San Miguel Academy graduates are currently enrolled in the RedTail Flight Academy at Stewart Airport. Harold Rayford, Director of the Newburgh Zion Lions, will also be honored.
For 27 years, the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter has held its annual gala to celebrate the Tuskegee Airmen, community leaders, and scholarship recipients. To date, the Chapter has awarded over $350,000 to deserving college or technical school-bound high school seniors from the Hudson Valley. The event will also feature a vignette of Layon Grey’s off-Broadway adaptation of Black Angels Over Tuskegee.
