While at the NYC Department of Education's Office of the General Counsel, Freddy established lasting connections with New-York Historical, a long-standing partner and educational resource for NYC public school students and teachers. Upon hearing about the opportunity to serve as their first-ever full-time general counsel, he was excited to pursue that path.

A lifelong New Yorker, growing up on the streets of the Lower East Side, Freddy was able to experience the transformation power of education largely thanks to the Jesuits at Nativity Mission School, the first school of what is now NativityMiguel Coalition.
